Introducing the "Pimp Mobile"

Here are some totally cool pictures of a van that my friend John and I now own. It is a 1978 Ford Econoline 150. It is a beast. It is also a very beautiful thing.

Most of what makes this baby so wonderful is that we paid absolutely nothing for her! That's right--we picked her up in a parking lot all lonely with a sign in the window that said:
FREE VEHICLE
Needs flat fixed
and battery charged

Turns out the guy didn't drive it anymore (that's sure a shame) and didn't want to even take the trouble to sell it. He told me that if I could get it to run then he would sign over the title to me.

Well my friends and I went over there, threw on a spare tire, hooked up some jumper cables, and had to replace a piece of fuel line under the chassis which had a nasty leak. After a little lovin' her V8 351 roared to life and we drove her home.

As you can see, the outside is going to need a little body work-- we are still deciding what color/design paint job would be best. The good news is that the inside is in almost perfect condition. Plush blue carpet adorns the floors, walls, and ceiling, along with velvety seats and pin-cushin design vinyl on the walls and roof. Besides the up-front driver and passenger seats, there are two more swivel seats in the large back with a bench along the rear wall which folds down into a cozy (but small) bed. The radio will have to be one of the first things to get fixed. right now there is a cassette player/AM/FM radio which doesn't work. We can't have a sweet ride without tunes. Any of you who have heard my '92 Geo Tracker bumping down the street from two blocks away can probably imagine the kind of pumping audio I want to design!

There are not words to describe how incredibly cool, pimping, and free this ride is. Enjoy the pictures. I will post more as we fix it up!
